The film "Whats eating Gilbert Grape?" tells us a lot about one person and a family in general. This picture can tell us a lot about this family as they have suffered through quite a bit together whether it be family related or another problem. This picture gives shows mi-seen scene as it tells us a story within the whole frame. You can see that the house is on fire and that everything looks old and dusty in the background of the frame. That's because this picture tells us that the Grape family has suffered embarrassment because of their mother Bonnie. Gilbert tells the rest of his family that their mother doesn't need to suffer again so, they decide to remove everything out of the house and light it on fire. This is because they do not want a scene to be formed and want a rebirth of the character Gilbert and the family as a whole as it is an opening to a new Grape family.

This picture shows Arnie and Gilbert celebrating their tradition of always watching the trailers pass by every year when Arnie is about to turn a certain age.We're also shown a diegesis with this shot because the picture is showing us a story that will unfold to another story. We're shown that Arnie can run everywhere he wants as Gilbert is always chasing after him which is telling us that Gilbert is full time responsibility of watching his brother. This picture is soon going to show us that Gilbert will start to become overwhelmed of taking care of his brother. Soon as time will pass Gilbert will start to get more and more trapped with his responsibility of watching Arnie and maybe have a chance to become "Free" for once.
